I've been slowly reading through what I call the "little Purvis book," and I'm finding the writing charming, maybe even a little quaint. You can get a feeling for the earnest man behind the words, and occasionally you get real insight into the man himself. This weekend I started reading 'The Violent Years' -- the "uncensored abridgment" of 'American Agent,' published in 1960 by Hillman Books. This tiny little book is just a treasure to me, I have to admit. There's something amazing about reading the accounts inside from Purvis' point of view, and I plan on sharing some of it here ( Read more... )
